Details for Tex Edward Schooley

THE VILLAGES - Tex Edward Schooley, 94, passed from this life Thursday, January 30, 2020. Born in Bedford, Indiana he was the son of the late Harry and Charlotte (Early) Schooley.

Tex was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a sergeant and member of the 60th Field Artillery Battalion 9th Division. He participated in the Central Europe campaigns. At the end of the war he was part of the occupying force in Germany assisting with POWs, evacuees and resettlement of Poles and Italians to their respective countries. Tex was awarded the Army Occupation Medal Germany, American Theatre Ribbon, EAME Theatre Ribbon w/1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal World War II.

Following the War, Tex had a successful career as a foundry supervisor for General Motors and Ford Motor Co. retiring after 39 years of service.

Tex was married to the love of his life, Oreta (Greathouse) Schooley for nearly 50 years. Sadly, she passed in 1995.

Tex came to The Villages in 2000 from Sheffield, Alabama. He was an avid golfer and bridge player.

He leaves his daughter, Candace Dubrof of The Villages and a sister, Sharon Whitford of Bedford, Indiana along with several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in The Villages. He will be laid to rest in Bedford, Indiana. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the ALS Association, Florida Chapter 3242 Parkside Center Circle, Tampa, FL 33619-0907 (888) 257-1717.
