Salvatore Vanacore, Jr, 73, of The Villages, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 with his loving wife, Rose at his bedside. Mr. Vanacore was born September 20, 1946 in New Haven, CT to Salvatore and Sara (Pantano) Vanacore. He was a physical education teacher and retired from the Milford Board of Education after 31 years. Salvatore moved to The Villages in 2007 from Stratford, CT. He quickly made The Villages his home. Sal was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved many things including his church, sports and spending time with friends and family. In addition, his grandson Evan said, "Poppy loved his recliner and backseat driving." Salvatore enjoyed playing Pinochle and Poker and was described as a "savvy card sharp". He also had enjoyed playing Pickleball and Bowling when he was able. Salvatore's son, Chad describes his father as being "the greatest and most generous Father, Friend, Poppy, Yankee Baseball and UCONN Basketball fan. A man with a heart of gold and a smile that could light up a room." Survivors include his loving wife, Rose; children, Krista Vanacore of Southington, CT, Gina Vanacore of North Haven, CT, Salvatore Vanacore of North Haven, CT, Chad Vanacore (Sheila) of Saratoga Springs, NY, Matthew Vanacore of North Haven, CT; stepdaughter, Yvonne Conti-O'Brian (Dennis) of The Villages; 5 grandchildren, Bella Vanacore, Evan Vanacore, Ronan Vanacore, Shane O'Brian and Alec O'Brian. Salvatore's family and friends will celebrate his life 11:00am, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Summerfield.
