Details for Nancy Helen Metcalfe

Nancy Helen Metcalfe, 82 of Scottsdale, AZ died suddenly on June 7, 2019 after a fine Italian dinner, glass of wine, and laughter with her dear friend Fay. Nancy was born April 6, 1937 in St. Joseph, MO to Max Ross Lamb and Rosa May Tribbey. She grew up in St. Joe attending Central High School where she excelled in sports and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended college at Missouri Methodist School of Nursing where she found lifelong friends. On January 18, 1959 she married Gerald "Jerry" Metcalfe. They made their home in Liberty, MO where they raised three children. Nancy was a registered nurse at North Kansas City Hospital for many years and later she helped open up Liberty Hospital and worked there for many years. Nancy was a life-long athlete but didn't discover golf until she was in her 40's. She quickly excelled at the sport winning many amateur tournaments through the years. Her love of golf and desire for a warmer climate meant their next move was to The Villages in Lady Lake, FL. Nancy continued her nursing career in Florida and golfed every chance she got with her many friends. In November of 2018 she moved to Scottsdale, AZ to be near family. On Mother's Day she played her last round of golf on earth.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Metcalfe in February of 2001. She is survived by her daughter Gayla Eckholt (Bob) of Leawood, KS and Scottsdale, AZ; son's Greg Metcalfe (Tammie) of Kearney, MO and Andy Metcalfe (Shari) of Liberty, MO. She will be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren: Patrick, Brett and Nikki Andriano, Lindsay and Dillon Metcalfe, Brittany White (Metcalfe), Shelby and Cole Metcalfe. She also had 4 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 2nd at Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Cremation. She will be buried next to husband who served in the Navy for 4 years during the Korean War. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Cornerstone Hospice at The Villages.
