Details for Michael Monson Watt

Michael Monson Watt, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on October 7th, 2019 at his home in The Villages, Florida. Michael was peacefully called home at 5:00 on Monday morning.

Michael is survived by his wife, Margarita Salinas-Watt of the Villages, Florida; his daughter, Andrea Watt McHugh (Matt McHugh) of Sarasota, Florida; his son, Bobby Leyba (Stefanie Kohn Leyba) of San Francisco, California; his grandchildren, Macy and Brooks McHugh of Sarasota, Florida and Elias Leyba of San Francisco, California; his sisters, Carol Watt and Jennifer Slater (Danny Slater) of Keystone Heights, Florida, Sue Nelson of Lakeland, Florida; his nieces Katelyn Nelson and Bailey Slater; and his nephew, William Nelson. Michael is preceded in death by his brother, William Watt, and his parents, Norman Monson Watt and Nora Bell Watt (Killion).

Michael was born on January 30, 1947 in Terre Haute, Indiana to parents Norman and Nora Bell Watt. Michael graduated from the University of Illinois with a Master's Degree in Public Administration. Michael served as a police officer and Sheriff in Illinois and subsequently accepted a position as Director of Loss Prevention in the supermarket industry in the Chicago area where he worked for more than 25 years.

Michael was a loving father and husband and took pride in the successes of his daughter, the Honorable Andrea Watt McHugh, and his step-son, Dr. Robert M. Leyba, DVM. Michael and Margarite married in 1995 and enjoyed successful careers as Director of Loss Prevention and Critical Care Nursing. Michael and Margarite enjoyed golfing, biking, fishing, working out, camping in their RV and mostly their beautiful grandchildren, Macy, Brooks, and Elias. Michael was a devout Christian and always looked to God and Our Savior with unwavering faith in His word and His plan. Michael will be missed by his family and countless friends and co-workers who will always remember him as the kind and amazing man he was. He inspired so many and will live on in our hearts.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Michael's Life is being held on Friday, October 11th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at New Life Christian Church, 4701 East County Road 462, Wildwood, Florida 34785 with our Pastor Dave Connell officiating. All are welcome to attend.
