Details for John L. Babcock

John L. Babcock, 86, passed away at Buffalo Crossings Rehabilitation Center on December 26, 2021. A native of East Peoria, IL, John resided in The Villages since 2004. After retiring his executive role at the Illinois Manufacturers' Association in Chicago, John moved to Lake Thunderbird in Putnam, IL where he was an avid fisherman and nature lover. There he started a new career with his self-owned real estate brokerage, Old Oak Realty. He is survived by his longtime partner in crime and dance, Myrhl Watford, of The Villages, his daughter Kristine (Ken) Strayve of West Chicago, IL, son, Kyle "Kip" Babcock (Tom Gregory) of Chicago, one granddaughter, Hannah Strayve, of Oakland, CA, one grandson, Noah Strayve, of Chicago, seven nieces and nephews, and his beloved extended family of friends in The Villages. He is preceded in death by his parents, Al and Alma Babcock, two infant daughters, Karen and Karla, his sisters, Jeanine and Judy, and his brother, Jeff. A life celebration was held on December 30 at his favorite dancing hole, The Waterfront Inn in Sumter Landing.
