Details for Janice Norris
Janice (Jan) Inez Norris, 80, of The Villages passed away early Friday August 30, 2019. Jan was born March 14, 1939 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Jan was a devout Catholic and led her family and friends by example. From an early age, Jan volunteered as a Pink Lady at hospitals in Memphis, TN and then later in Atlanta, GA. Jan, along with her children visited many nursing homes. While living in Atlanta, she went to daily mass at Christ the King and Saint Jude Catholic Church after taking her children to school. One of her favorite churches was Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Gatlinburg, TN. Jan was a loving person, wife and mother. She enjoyed life. She loved bowling on her team, "The Holy Rollers," tennis, painting, daily walks, hiking in the Smokey Mountains and playing her guitar. She also had a love for plants and flowers, especially roses. She loved birds and butterflies and her beloved dog, Dolly. Including her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Williams, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Williams, Jr., her sister Shirley Bailey, her brother-in-law Robert Norris and her sister-in-law, Louise Norris. Those left to cherish and honor her memory are her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Norris; her children, Richard "Rick" (Sheila) Norris, Britton "Britt" (Denise) Norris, and Christopher "Chris" Warner Norris. Also, her brother-in-law Dave (Karen) Norris, her sister-in-law Rosemary Williams and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at Saint Marks Catholic Church in Summerfield, FL on September 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Following the mass, she will be interred at Lone Oak Cemetery in Leesburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Labre Indian School (Tongue River Rd, Ashland, MT 59003), Sacred Heart Auto League (6050 Hwy 161, Walls, MS 38680), Saint Mary's Catholic Church (304 Historic Nature Trail, Gatlinburg, TN 37738), or Saint Joseph Indian School (PO Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326).
