Details for Gail Marineau
Gail Wittmann Marineau, age 80, of The Villages, FL, formerly of Port St. Lucie, passed away on January 28, 2020, with her loving husband by her side. She was born on May 20, 1939, in Pittsford, NY, the daughter of the late Marvin and Mabel (Russell) Dennis. After graduating from Pittsford High School (Class of '57), she received her BA Degree in Education from Potsdam College, and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Phi Sorority. She earned her Master of Education Degree from SUNY Cortland. She was a member of the AAUW. On August 12, 1983, she was united in marriage to her husband,
Richard Brent Marineau.
Upon graduating from college, Gail instructed several grades, and concentrated in the teaching of reading within the Rome, NY City School District, and for 10 years at Northport Middle
School until her retirement.
Gail was a world traveler, where her and Rick were able to experience the sights and cultures of multiple destinations, with her favorite being Africa. She excelled at sports throughout her life, and enjoyed athletic competition at The Villages. She socialized through many activities including shuffleboard and Bunco. She was an avid NY Yankee fan. Gail was a woman of deep faith, serving her church as a member of the Rebekah's Circle.
Gail is survived by her husband Richard, three sons, Scott (Kerry) Wittmann, of Lee Center, NY, Craig Wittmann of Mahopac, NY, Eric (Ginny MacCallum) Wittmann of Verona, NY, step-son Scott (Suzanne) Marineau of Ava, NY, step-daughter Robyn (Scott) Davis of Austin, TX, 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by a daughter- in- law, Erica.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Gail directly to the North Lake Presbyterian Church, 975 Rolling Acres Rd., Lady Lake, FL 32159 or to the American Heart Association.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
