Walk, Swim in Florida’s Warm Winter Wonderland

Santa Claus may not be coming to town until Monday, but winter officially has arrived.

Northern states are feeling snow flurries and the chill of winter’s breezes. People who live there are bundling up in huge jackets with scarves and hats. But in The Villages, people are lounging poolside and enjoying area golf courses. While New England will experience temperatures in the mid-20s today and Friday and overnight lows in the teens, Florida is experiencing pleasant nights and even warmer days. Dave Towle, weather forecaster for AM-640 WVLG, said winter affects states differently, depending on where they fall in the path of a jet stream of high pressure winds. While winters up North can be described easily with “cold” and “snow,” Florida winters are a little more complicated.
