You might say The Villages is a melting pot swirling with a variety of ethnicities and cultures. There’s the Irish, the Scottish and Italians — all with their own celebrations. But when it comes to Chinese New Year, no one does it better than the Chinese Dance and Music Performing Group. Founded by Junlin Fetterman, of the Village of Orange Blossom Gardens, the group shares its love of all things Chinese and Asian, especially when it comes to dance. “I hope the American people will know more about Asian history and culture,” said Fetterman, shown above twirling flags during a dance rehearsal for Chinese New Year. When the group performs, its dances tell a story relating to the five Chinese ethnicities — the Han, Manchus, Mongols, Hui and Tibetans. And now its repertoire is expanding to other countries from Korea and Japan to Thailand and Russia. If you’re a fan of the Orient,  Fetterman is more than happy to teach you how to dance the Chinese way.
