NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT, AMEND, OR REPEAL RULES AND OF PUBLIC HEARING Ref.: FS 120.54(2)(a)
The School Board of Sumter County, Florida, gives notice of the development of rules ("policies"), as shown below, and that it will hold a public hearing to which all persons are invited:
DATE and TIME: November 5, 2019 at 5:30 PM
PLACE: Sumter County School Board, School Board Meeting Room, 2680 W C-476, Bushnell, FL 33513
PURPOSE: To receive public input on the proposed adoption, amendment, or repeal of policies.
Purpose and Effect:
The purpose of the rule development is to accomplish a general review and update of the School Board’s policy manual to ensure the policies address current conditions, better achieve the School Board’s mission and vision, and incorporate changes in applicable law.

Summary of Statement of Estimated Regulatory Cost:
No statement of estimated regulatory costs has been prepared. Any person who wishes to provide information regarding the statement of estimated regulatory costs, or to provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative, must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice. The proposed policy change is not expected to require legislative ratification.
Any affected person may request a public hearing on the proposed policy changes, by making a written request to Richard A. Shirley, Superintendent of Schools; requests must be received within 21 days from publication of this notice.
Any material pertinent to the issues under consideration submitted to the Superintendent within 21 days after the date of publication of this notice or submitted at the public hearing will be considered by the Board and made a part of the rulemaking record. Action on the proposed policy change is anticipated to occur at a future School Board meeting, which will be separately noticed.
Any person who decides to appeal a decision with respect to a matter considered at the hearing is hereby advised that, for such purpose, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the meeting is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
