NOTICE OF INTENT TO USE UNIFORM METHOD OF COLLECTING NON-AD VALOREM ASSESSMENTS
The Florida Resiliency and Energy District (the "District" or "FRED") hereby provides notice, pursuant to Section 197.3632(3)(a), Florida Statutes, of its intent to use the uniform method of collecting non-ad valorem special assessments to be levied by it over a number of years to fund the cost of qualifying renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation and wind resistance improvements (collectively, "Qualifying Improvements") for those property owners who wish to undertake such improvements within the unincorporated areas of Alachua, Baker, Jefferson, and Marion County, Florida; and the jurisdictional boundaries of the cities of Haines City, Lady Lake, Lake Wales, Leesburg, Mount Dora and Ocala, Florida as authorized by Sections 163.08 and 197.3632, Florida Statutes, which will allow such assessments to be collected annually, commencing in November 2021, in the same manner as provided for ad valorem taxes.
The non-ad valorem special assessments to be levied by the District are voluntary and only imposed with the written consent of a property owner wishing to finance Qualifying Improvements. The governing board of the District will consider the adoption of a resolution electing to use the uniform method of collecting such assessments authorized by Sections 163.08 and 197.3632, Florida Statutes, at a public hearing to be held via Tele-Conference on December 10, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard.

Such resolution will state the need for the levy by the District and will contain a legal description of the jurisdictional boundaries of the District. Copies of the proposed form of resolution may be obtained from the Florida Resiliency and Energy District at 407-712-6352. All interested persons are invited to attend.
In the event any person decides to appeal any decision by the governing board of the District with respect to any matter relating to the consideration of the resolution at the above-referenced public hearing, a record of the proceeding may be needed and in such an event, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the public hearing is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence on which the appeal is to be based.
