Humana Market Point wins by one run

THE VILLAGES — Andy Betanzos drove in the game-winning run with a ground-out in the eighth inning to give Humana Market Point a 14-13 victory over Cebert Wealth Management on Tuesday in the Central Florida Softball League at Buffalo Glen Softball Complex.

Rich Kent was placed at second base to start the eighth inning due to The Villages extra-inning rule, as Kent was the last batter in the previous inning; he advanced to third base on a single by Dick Petulla to set up the game-winning play.

Dan List gave Humana Market Point (2-3) an early 1-0 lead in the first inning with a single, while Kent slammed in two runs with a triple. Kent would score on an error to give Humana Market Point a 4-0 lead.

Bob Wiegand drove in a run for Cebert Wealth Management (2-3) in the bottom of the first inning with a double and scored on a single by Herb Haber.

Ron Bolster tied the game for Cebert Wealth Management at 4-4 in the second inning with a single, while Wiegand gave his team a 6-4 lead with a two-run single.

Jim Sherman and Tom McGann started the third inning for Humana Market Point on back-to-back doubles. List tied the game at 6-6 with a single, while Kent gave Humana Market Point an 8-6 lead with a two-run triple. Petulla drove in Kent with a sacrifice fly.

 

Cebert Wealth Management started the third inning on back-to-back triples by Haber and Harold Holiman. Dan Meek sent Holiman in with a single. Jim Harris drove in a run with a single, while Bolster sent two runs in with a single to give Cebert Wealth Management an 11-9 lead.

Angel Molinaris gave Humana Market Point a 13-12 lead in the sixth inning with a three-run double.

Barry Stewart tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run.

Moussette Chiropractic 24,

Harlan Insurance 20

Moussette Chiropractic won its first game of the season with a victory over Harlan Insurance.

Frank LaBarbera and Dick Christie led Moussette Chiropractic (1-5) with four hits each. Mike Labetti, Harvey Fellenbaum and Tom Schmelzer all had three hits.

Joe Donly had four hits for Harlan Insurance (3-3) with two doubles and a triple. Fred Hughes also had four hits, while Tom Ceglie and Bruce Harlan both had three hits.

Babiarz Law Firm 12,

Quiznos Southern Trace 5

Babiarz Law Firm came from an early 5-1 deficit to score 11 unanswered runs for a victory over Quiznos Southern Trace.

John Plunkard and Jack Meagher led Babiarz Law Firm (4-1) with three hits each, while six other players had two hits apiece.

Quiznos Southern Trace (0-5) had two hits apiece from Bil Saxby, Dan West and Rick Stenson.

3 Amigos Pro Shop 14,

AIG Insurance 12

3 Amigos Pro Shop kept its undefeated streak alive with a victory over AIG Insurance.

Al Deibler and Bob Jacques led 3 Amigos Pro Shop (6-0) with three hits each, while four other players had two hits apiece.

Jack Maiz and Carl McWilliams paced AIG Insurance (3-2) with four hits each in a losing effort.
